Introduction

Welcome to ‘Life in the Zoo Lane’!

Hello, and welcome to my blog!

If you don’t already know me, my name is Tamara. Pronounced like a cheer, Tah-Mah-Rah although, if you’re only going to be reading my blog and we may never met in person that is probably an irrelevant fact. 🙂

Anyway, it’s nice to [virtually] meet you and thank you for coming by to see what I’ve got planned. Blogging has been on my mind for quite some time, a few years actually, and I’ve gone back and forth on why I should or shouldn’t commit to sharing my life online. It came down to this: the world is so big that maybe the person I can relate to about a certain situation isn’t one that lives near me or even a ‘suggested friend’ on Facebook. And in a world where we are all socially connected I feel like it’s a great place to grow.

So, here we are at ‘Life in the Zoo Lane’. Why this name? Well my husband, who you’ll meet later, his nickname has been ‘Zoo’ since college and it’s sort of been adopted as our little family nickname… so instead of life in the fast lane, this is going to be life in OUR lane.

If you have found my blog because we are already friends and you’ve been listening to me talk about it or reading my self hyping posts than your continued support truly means the world to me! If however, you have found my blog because Google lead you here or you saw my page shared then I’m really glad you decided to follow that link that lead you here.

A little about myself and what you’ll find here to start. I’m a 30-something year old Air Force wife and soon to be first time Mama. That alone has a lot to talk about! I grew up as the oldest child and my younger brother was of course my biggest enemy until we got old enough to realize that getting along wasn’t all that bad. My dad was in the Army so military life isn’t foreign to me. Speaking of foreign, I was born in Germany and spoke only German as my first language until I was 4, but more on that later. I know, it doesn’t sound like something that could be talked about in a whole post but if you stick around, you’ll see. My family moved around a couple of times between Germany and the US and wouldn’t you know as luck, or just the high percentage of military life probability would have it, I am back to living in Germany. This is home and I am so happy to be here.

I also have an older brother, half-brother technically, but there’s no difference in how much I love him or view us as family so I tend to ignore the ‘half’ part unless it needs to be specified. For most of our lives we didn’t know each other but that’s also a story you’ll want to come back to read. He deserves some major credit for that one!

My husband, who will probably be mentioned a lot throughout my blogging career and I must have been destined to be together but it’s not exactly one of your fairytale romantic meet-cute stories. Instead we were rather ‘nudged’ and expected to get together. It just so happens that we realized we actually were perfect for each other and didn’t want to miss out on each other. I really want to share our story in a post dedicated to us so again, stay tuned. Remember, this is just an introduction anyways. If I told you everything right now there would be no reason to come back!

Like mentioned I’m a soon to be first time mom or as you may see me type it out in the future, FTM. I know you’re probably thinking another new mom who just wants to brag on how cute her baby is. Well, I’m here to tell you… yeah! I’ll probably brag a little because we all deserve to feel good about the little human we created but I genuinely want to relate to my readers and promise not to exclusively or over share about our little. We are not finding out the gender so that will be an exciting announcement come birth day!

One last thing, if your reading this fairly soon after launch you know that we are currently living in a pandemic. We are all doing our best to stay sane and healthy through these times and if there’s anything I can admit I will say that me writing out my experiences and journeys while enduring this time has helped and hopefully it will reach even just one of you who can relate.

I’m already excited to share more and hope you’re just excited to read more! If you feel like you want to stick around to see what’s coming next I hope you feel like you have a friend or two that might as well. Share my page with them and invite them to come read something they might find resonates with them.

Also, if you’re feeling inclined I’d love for you to introduce yourself in the comments. How did you find my blog and where are you reading from?

Until next time,
Tamara
